Sound Southern Telegraph reported.

There were smiles all round at Malibu School last Friday, as students celebrated the end of another school term that was highlighted by a generous donation from ANZAC Warship System Program Office Social Club.

Royal Australian Navy Captain Rachel Durbin and Lavinia De Vos were on hand present the school with a $2800 cheque, which was warmly welcomed by school principal Noelene Mason.

Ms Mason said the donation would contribute to the purchase of playground equipment for students of all abilities. “The school is working to create a universally accessible playground that meets all students’ needs,” she said.

Malibu School in Safety Bay is the charity of choice for HMAS Stirling, with the specialist school catering for students in early childhood through to Year 12. In the past the ANZAC Warship SPO Social Club has donated funds to help purchase chairs, iPad covers, life vests and shipping containers.

The club hosts a number of events to raise funds for worthy causes, having previously held sausage sizzles and indoor beach volleyball competitions, and raffling gift baskets for Easter, Mother’s Day and Christmas.
